Call for Talks: PI and More, Trier

For once Britain has successfully exported something to Germany, although I suspect that Raspberry PI sales not quite enough to make up for all the nice cars we buy from there….

The Raspberry Pi has drawn the attention of hobbyists around the world
and is poised to revolutionize computer science teaching in schools. In
Trier, Germany the €œPi And More event has been established to promote
the exchange of knowledge about small computer€. This €œRaspberry Jam€
is not only a framework for interesting talks and workshops, but also
the best opportunity to get started with exciting projects.

The Pi And More series started at the University of Trier in August last
year and the second event was held at the Trier University of Applied
Sciences in January. Pi And More 3 is planned to take place at the
University of Trier on Saturday, June 15, 2013.

We are looking for people who want to offer talks and workshops,
preferably in German or alternatively in English. The topics can be
targeted at beginners as well as professionals. Likewise, we are
interested in contributions regarding the use of the Raspberry Pi in school.

For example, beginner-friendly topics such as the installation of the
Raspberry Pi, first programming steps, educational applications, or the
implementation of a media center with XBMC can be presented. Also
advanced topics such as assembly language programming or compiling
programs are welcome. Last but not least, we are interested in
presentations about your own projects and developments.

Contributions can be submitted until May 5, 2013 with a title and
abstract (about 160-200 words) via the form linked below. You will
receive a notification of acceptance or non-acceptance on May 15.

Submission form:

Pi And More is jointly organized by the computer science student
representatives of the two universities of Trier and the research groups
of Prof. Peter Sturm (University of Trier) and Prof. Jarn Schneider
(Trier University of Applied Sciences).
