Two Years Since IPCity Mixed Reality Project

For those of you interested in some research into mixed realities, including augmented reality location-aware games I suggest you check out IPCity. I had the great pleasure in working on this project for about four years (with many talented people) and I was also the co-ordinator for a time on it as well. Since its just over two years since it ended I thought it only fitting to mention it again as some of the ideas may still be of interest to people.

We had great fun, even if it was at times stressful in exploring a whole range of technologies from public multi-touch displays and tangible user interfaces for urban redevelopment through to augmented reality gaming and location-aware story telling.

Obviously many of the technologies have moved on a bit since the project began but we also explored how people’s perception of their environment changed and how they interact with such technologies. Which means the results are perhaps still relevant to many people today.
